Dr Susan Easton and Professor Christine Piper presented papers at the SLS Annual Conference
Two members of BLS presented papers in the Sentencing and Punishment stream at the Annual Conference of the Socio-Legal Studies Association, held this year at DMU, Leicester, 3-5 March. Dr Susan Easton’s paper, entitled ‘Should Prisoners Be Allowed to Vote?’ prompted a lively discussion. Professor Christine Piper’s paper, which focused on methods of physical restraint used on children and young people in Secure Training Units and Prison Service establishments, raised serious issues relating to human rights.
