Level 1 student, BLS

The Legal Professionals Master Class series ran for 5 weeks in the autumn term 2012-13. The short course, delivered by Sarah Rourke and Alison Taylor from the PCC, saw students being put through their paces to shape their development as legal professionals.

Guest speakers from Kaplan, College of Law and BPP came in to speak to groups of very enthusiastic law students from all three levels about CV writing for the legal jobs market, networking using LinkedIn and researching areas of law and legal careers.

Course participants also heard from Lawcareers.net on the most effective use of their website as well as having contributions from amongst BLS’s own student body, who shared their experiences of the legal working environment and how to use social media to best effect.

The course ended on a high note when lots of laughs (and learning!) were had in the final session, as Sarah and Alison helped students present themselves more confidently in interview situations, taking them through from the initial impression to learning how to breathe more efficiently!
