IHR/ Criminal Justice LLM class visits All Souls College and attends seminar in Oxford
On January 23, ten students from the International Human Rights and International & Comparative Criminal Justice LLMs visited Oxford along with one of their lecturers at Brunel. Following a guided tour to All Souls College and other sites, they attended a seminar at Oxford Faculty of Law, by Hon J Dyson Heydon, Justice of the High Court of Australia, who addressed the topic ‘Are Bills of Rights necessary in common law systems?’. Lord Sumption of the United Kingdom Supreme Court chaired the lecture.
The bitterly cold evening found the group in a nice cafeteria in Oxford, where there was ample opportunity for the students and their lecturer to reflect on the seminar and other issues of interest before making their way back to London and the University.
Dr. Dimitrios Giannoulopoulos, who organised the event, commented: “Brunel is wonderfully located half-way between central London and Oxford, so students have fantastic opportunities to attend events, academic and cultural, in both cities, in addition to participating in the plethora of events organised in our School. Studying for an LLM is so much more than just attending classes anyway…”
