Claire Corbett’s research interests are largely specialised in the field of road crime and traffic enforcement where she has conducted several empirical studies into aspects of speeding, speed cameras and drink-driving for which research grants from the Transport Research Laboratory, the Department for Transport, and TfL were received. Earlier research studies commissioned by the Home Office carried out at Brunel and when at the Centre for Criminological Research at Oxford University focused on prison training, ordered and directed acquittals, Victim Support and the police complaints system. In total, research grants in excess of £650,000 have been awarded. She has recently been an invited member of various government scientific advisory groups related to road safety improvement. She is Deputy Director of the Criminal Justice Research Centre at Brunel.

Was an invited participant at an Oxford Policing Policy Forum at All Souls College, University of Oxford hosted by the Police Foundation and Oxford University’s Centre for Criminology, December 2012, on the topic ‘Is roads policing taken seriously enough?’
Presented invited paper to the Metropolitan Police Service in April 2012 at Empress House in London on her research on disqualifying ‘totter’ drivers in their absence at London traffic courts and the implications of this practice for police. This will be available on the College of Policing’s public depository for research papers.
Attended PACTS conference, October 2012, where findings aired from collaborative research with Kris Beuret and Heather Ward on the impact of women’s drinking on their pedestrian and driving activities. The literature review is available to download: http://www.reesjeffreys.co.uk/transport-reports/
Member of the Governance Board of the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme, which scheme won the overall prize at the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards presentations, December 2012.
Involved in external research collaboration (with K. Beuret of SRA Ltd and H. Ward of UCL) to explore women’s drinking and its impact on their driving and pedestrian activities for the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund and RBS. Empirical study currently in progress.
Member of the Metropolitan Police’s Strategic Traffic Consultative Forum.
