Seminar outline

The seminar will:

  • provide a brief overview of the Equality Act, focusing on a couple of issues that have already arisen;
  • review the notable cases of 2010 and some of the legislative proposal s for 2011 (such as the maternity/paternity issue and the Employment Tribunal reforms);
  • provide an update on the Agency Workers Regulations that are coming out in October;
  • look at the abolition of the default retirement age.

Speakers

Justin Govier, Partner, IBB Solicitors

Justin advises on all aspects of employment law, including the drafting of employment documentation and corporate support on restructures and transactions. He also provides training to HR departments, in-house lawyers and other decision-makers.

Jonathan Bruck, Senior Solicitor, IBB Solicitors

Jonathan advises on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious work. His experience includes drafting employment contracts and staff handbooks, providing corporate support and TUPE advice on transactions, handling Employment Tribunal claims and advising on day-to-day HR issues.

Laurence O’Neill, Solicitor, IBB Solicitors

Lawrence deals with a wide range of cases, including dismissal and discrimination cases, both from an employer and employee perspective. He also has experience in drafting employment contracts, policies and procedures, and advocacy experience in the Employment Tribunal.

Nicola Powell, Solicitor, IBB Solicitors

Nicola handles all aspect of employment law with a focus on providing businesses with corporate transaction support on M&A and MBOs. Her experience includes Employment Tribunal advocacy, employer litigation, drafting employment contracts, advising businesses on day-to-day HR issues, strategic re-organisation and the drafting of internal policies.
