How to apply (undergraduates)

How to apply | International students | Deferred entry | Clearing/Adjustment students | Exchange students | Special requirements

Both the Accommodation Office and the Housing Office will give you every assistance to find suitable accommodation, either in University residences or locally off campus if you prefer.

You must make sure you have arranged somewhere to live or at least have temporary accommodation before leaving home. Students who do not do this run the risk of arriving at Brunel with nowhere to live.

If you need to apply for a visa, ensure you allow sufficient time for the British Embassy to process your application. Failure to do so may result in late arrival and losing your room on campus.

How to apply

If you are coming through the UCAS scheme, you do not need to apply directly to the Accommodation Office. You simply have to mark on your UCAS form that you require a place to live on campus, and the information from your form will be transferred electronically to the University. Prior to the allocation period later in the year (normally in Janaury), we will send you a letter or email requesting that you complete an online preference form. This form will allow you to indicate a preference for either an ensuite or a standard room, supply a mobile number for SMS (text messaging) and provide a contact email address. Please note that we are unable to guarantee preferences, but the information supplied will help the Accommodation Office complete the allocation process.

International students

If you are an exchange, pre-sessional or English@Brunel student, please see the information for prospective international students for details of how to apply.

Deferred entry

Students who have been accepted to study at Brunel and have chosen to defer for a year should already have been through the procedure outlined above in 'How to Apply'. Deferred students will be allocated accommodation in the summer, prior to their A level results being released.

If you have provided the University with your email address, details of your accommodation offer will be sent to you by email. You should check your messages regularly to ensure that you respond to your offer in good time. Please ensure that you check both your Inbox and Junk Mail folders and ensure you have not met your email limit.

Clearing/Adjustment students

Students entering the University through clearing should read the Accommodation Office's information sheet (pdf, 97.17Kb) for further information.

Exchange Students

Students on exchange programmes are allocated on campus accommodation subject to availability please see the information for prospective international students for details of how to apply.
If you have any queries please email the exchanges co-ordinator at Brunel International. Exchange students can also visit Brunel International's website for more information.

Special Requirements

If you are a disabled student or have a severe medical impairment which we will need to take into consideration when allocating your accommodation, please contact the Accommodation Office for further advice and assistance.

You can also browse our information for students with disabilities.
