These collections comprise materials including books, plays, poetry, journals and ephemera written by and about Shakespeare and his time. They were donated by the De Vere Society, the Shakespearean Authorship Trust and Jean Holmes, wife of Edward Holmes.
Many of the collection’s books are listed in the Library’s catalogue.

Access to the collection
Many of the books in the Shakespeare collections are now shelved in the main part of the library. These all appear in the Library's catalogue.
All other books and all archive material are in Special Collections and require an appointment to access. To request an appointment please e-mail Special.Collections@brunel.ac.uk at least 2 working days ahead of your visit. You can check when we are open on the Using our collections page.
