Your Students' Union

The Union of Brunel Students UBS) is a student led organisation with the purpose of making your life at Brunel as enjoyable as possible. We run everything from the Advice and Representation Centre, to sports and societies and the Academy nightclub. We also organise Student Reps and provide opportunities to gain valuable experience within Student Media.

Enjoy Freshers’ Week!

Beginning on Sunday 23 September 2012 for most undergraduates, Freshers’ Week will include important School and course induction activities and events run by the Students’ Union to welcome you to student life. To find out more, check the UBS website and like our Facebook page.

Meeting your Contacts

Waiting to help you move in and find your way around Brunel are your Students’ Union Contacts, who will help you get used to your surroundings and take advantage of everything that the University has to offer. They will organise activities designed to help you make new friends, try something new, and stay safe and comfortable. Contacts are divided into teams for each Hall together with specific teams to support off-campus and international students, but they are more than happy to help anyone, so don’t be afraid to ask.

Welcome events

UBS will welcome you to Brunel with a week of daytime and evening activities. On your arrival, your Contacts will provide you with a Freshers’ week Mini-Guide (also available from UBS reception in the Hamilton Centre, and on the UBS website) and other vital information to get you through the week. Tickets for all events based in the Academy (the UBS nightclub) during Freshers’ Week can be bought online from August 20th.

Freshers’ Fayre

With over 180 stalls and an average attendance of about 5,000, the Freshers’ Fayre (Tuesday 25 September) is the highlight of Freshers’ Week and one of the most important events in the Students’ Union calendar. The Fayre is the place to find out about the huge array of clubs and societies available to all Brunel students. There will be opportunities to find out more about the services and activities the Union offers, get involved in the Union and other campus activities, as well as external companies providing information about the local area (and freebies!). There’s something for everyone, and if not, you could always set up your own club or society.
