My Ceremony
When do I need to arrive?
Information including a timetable for your day will appear later in 2013.
What will happen during my ceremony?
When you register with the Graduation Team on the day of your ceremony you will be given a ticket with your name, student ID and seat number. You will need to be in your seat 30 minutes before your ceremony is due to begin.
You should remain in your assigned seat when you enter the theatre as pre-ceremony checks, including ticket checks, will be completed by Marshals. This is to ensure that you cross the stage and receive your degree in the correct order and at the appropriate time. Once the ceremony has started, graduating students will be prompted by the Marshals when it is time to receive their award.
Students will walk across the stage, shake hands with the Presiding Officers and leave the stage.
When do I get my certificate?
As you leave the stage you will be handed your certificate in a blue folder. If you have received your certificate before Graduation you will still cross the stage but will be handed a blue folder with a congratulatory letter inside.
What if I already have my certificate?
If you have received your certificate before Graduation you will still cross the stage but will be handed a folder with a congratulatory letter inside.
Can I leave the theatre after I have crossed the stage?
If graduating students or any of their guests need to leave the theatre for any reason, they should obtain a re-admittance pass as they leave the theatre – staff will be on duty at the exit portals to advise. Please note that without a re-admittance pass, no-one will be allowed back into the theatre.
What do I do if I can’t shake hands with the Presiding Officer?
If you do not wish to shake hands with the Presiding Officer when you cross the stage please carry a Graduation Programme (available at Registration) in your right hand. This way the Presiding Officers will doff their hat to you instead of offering you their hand to shake.
What should I do if I need additional requirements made during my ceremony owing to disability?
Please detail any concerns relating to your ceremony and any additional requirements you may have in the appropriate section of the eVision Invitation Task. You will then be contacted by a member of the Graduation Team closer to the time of your ceremony to talk through your concerns and confirm any arrangements that can be made.
What happens after my ceremony?
After your ceremony you are free to celebrate your success on campus. There will be refreshments available on the day, including a complimentary drink for graduating students and all guests with a paid ticket, as well as the usual catering outlets.
What is the Graduation Programme?
Where is my Graduation Ceremony and Registration?
