Brunel gets green-light to host Olympic athletes
The Guide, which will published at the Beijing 2008 Games, is aimed at encouraging competing teams to train in the UK in the run-up to London 2012, to acclimatise themselves to the environment.
Brunel's inclusion in the Guide means that international sports teams may choose to locate themselves at the university, in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics.
Professor Ian Campbell, who is leading the Brunel 2012 Programme, said: “The success of the application is a result of Brunel's investment in world-class sports facilities.“
In addition to its status as a Pre-Games Training Camp, the University is a hub-site for the English Institute of Sport, and a training base for the Great Britain Athletics Team.
Brunel University is also a hub for several national governing bodies, including England Netball and Badminton England.
