Documentary by Professor Michael Wayne to screen at the House of Commons

A feature length documentary co-directed by Brunel's Professor Michael Wayne, Convenor of the Documentary Practice MA, will be screened at the House of Commons in June.

The film, The Condition of the Working Class, was inspired by Friedrich Engels’ book of the same title written in 1844 and was funded by Brunel University’s Knowledge Transfer Fund. In order to link Engels’ book to today, the filmmakers issued an open call for volunteers to participate in a theatrical project in Salford and Manchester, where Engels lived and worked. The participants devised and performed a play based on their own experiences and Engels’ book, and Professor Wayne and co-director Deirdre O’Neill followed the process from first rehearsal to first night performance.

The screening is open to the public.
