Greek Government between a rock and a hard place

Greek election promises have left the debt-ridden country torn between its people and the demands of the Eurozone, Brunel’s Dr Dimitrios Giannoulopoulos told Arise News.

Dr Dimitrios, a senior lecturer in Brunel Law School, was asked to comment on 11th-hour talks between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and creditors in Europe in an effort to save the cash-strapped country.

He said that, although there was some positivity in this week’s talks, the issue remained on a knife-edge, with Greece having to manage the expectations of a public promised an end to austerity measures and the lenders the country is committed to.
