The spotlight shone on green energy as Brunel’s engineers demonstrated their final year achievements to an audience of their peers.

From solar-powered planes and tanks to a rowing machine that charges a mobile phone during an intense workout, a number of projects at the third annual Brunel Engineers showcase put the environment at their heart.

Others considered a range of real-world solutions in everything from 3D printer design and high-strength repair mortar for concrete buildings, to a bio-inspired flying robot that could be used to carry food and aid into disaster zones around the world.

The event recognised the hard work of mechanical, aerospace, civil, and electronic and computer engineering students at Brunel University London. Awards were presented to those who had used problem-solving skills to solve everyday issues.
