Brunel drama students head for international festivals
10 June 2005 Download this press release Brunel University's first-ever graduates of its new Masters course, Contemporary Performance Making, are preparing to taking part in international drama festivals, after they receive their awards this summer. Next week, eight students are showcasing their plays at The Boilerhouse, at Brunel University, in Uxbridge, on Tuesday [June 21] and at the Diorama Arts Centre, in central London on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Selected plays will then be seen at the Budva City Theatre Festival, in Montenegro (formerly Yugoslavia), in August, and at festivals in Portugal and South Africa, at later dates. Senior lecturer and MA Drama Course Convenor Dr Aleksandar Dundjerovic said: “This is truly an international drama course. This was the first year of the course and it is proving to be highly successful." The students, who specialised in theatre directing or solo performance, will be presenting their 50 minute dramas to audiences for the first time. Their shows include “Charlie Says” a multi-media performance, directed by Marylin Maupoint and “Blue Moon,” which includes erotic dance and original music, performed by Mirjana Filipovic.
