Hillingdon Carers – Young Carers Club Volunteer Details of the Charity: Hillingdon Carers is an independent charity that delivers a wide range of local support services to meet the needs of unpaid carers in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Our services included: Information, advice and support for carers of all ages Health and Wellbeing Services for adult carers Young Carers Services Details of the Volunteering Opportunity: Main purpose of role: To encourage Young Carers to have fun and relax in a safe and welcoming environment. Key responsibilities: To provide a warm welcome and friendly service To be an active team member and support the running of cooking, sporting, computer/gaming, arts and crafts and other creative activities To treat all Young Carers, and their families, with respect, dignity and courtesy Specialist skills/training/knowledge: Clear communication with Young Carers, and Hillingdon Carers staff Show consistently high standards of professional behaviour and appearance, acting as a positive role model Be able to reach the venue via public transport or own transport Tasks: Assisting in the set up and set down of the club according to procedure as required (including preparation of food, setting up and tidying up of arts and crafts/sports activities) To interact with the young people and encourage them to participate in the activities on offer if they so wish Maintenance of a tidy and safe environment at all times To conduct all dealings with Young Carers in a public area in full view of others Monday: 15:00-18:00 – Northwood Young Peoples Centre Tuesday: 15:00-18:00 – South Ruislip Young Peoples Centre Saturday: 10:00-13:00 – Hayes and Harlington You Peoples Centre Skills Required: Approachable Kind Friendly Helpful Additional Benefits: Travel expenses reimbursed Hours volunteered will be recorded on your HEAR – which goes on your permanent university record All hours contribute towards your Brunel Volunteers Award, which leads to an invitation to the Brunel Volunteers Awards Ceremony in May Interested?
