Gert Biesta is Professor of Education (0.8) in the Department of Education. In addition he is (0.2) NIVOZ Professor for Education at the University of Humanistic Studies, the Netherlands. He is Visiting Professor at NLA University College, Bergen, Norway, and an associate member of the Education Council of the Netherlands (Onderwijsraad), the advisory body of the Dutch government and partliament. His work focuses on the theory and philosophy of education and the theory and philosophy of educational and social research, with a particular interest in policy and questions concerning democracy and democratisation.
