Yaser is a native speaker of Arabic with extensive teaching experience of both Arabic and English in Higher and Further Education in Syria, Saudi Arabia and the UK.  Born in Aleppo City, northern Syria, he speaks native Levantine Arabic, which is one of the top 5 major varieties of the language.

Yaser studied his BA in English Language and Literature and the PGDip in Education and Teaching Methodology at Aleppo University. He worked at the International Academy for Health Sciences (IAHS) in Medina, Saudi Arabia and was selected as the “Ideal Teacher of the Year”. He then re-joined Aleppo University as an assistant lecturer in the Department of Languages, where he worked until moving to the UK.

Here in London, Yaser has completed the Master’s Degree in Contemporary Literatures and Cultures at Brunel University London, and the CELTA at West Thames College. He has also attended many professional development workshops and programmes on Graduate Learning and Teaching, Widening Participation, Equality and Diversity, among others. Alongside his Arabic teaching, Yaser is currently working on a PhD at Brunel in addition to his HEA Associate Fellowship.
