Environment, Health and Social Sciences Innovation is in our DNA …

Since the merger of the West London, Institute of Higher Education (Brunel University College) with Brunel University London in 1995, Brunel’s strong engineering base has been fertilised with health and social sciences, humanities, sports sciences and business. A large step further forward towards a more blended research environment was made when the Institute of Environment Health and Societies was formed in August 2014 as a part of a Transformational Re-structuring of research at Brunel University London.

Transforming the quality of our environments, health and social care through research is now part of Brunel’s research vision, particularly important now, as the effects of our environments on health and wellbeing become more and more evident and as health and social care demands change faster than ever. The  Institute incorporates the world leading Health Economics Research Group (HERG), the former Institute for the Environment (IfE), Brunel Institute for Bioengineering (BIB), the former Brunel Institute for Ageing Studies collaborative research network (BIAS),the former Brunel Centre for Sport, Health and Wellbeing (BC-SHaW), the Centre for Cell and Chromosome Biology (CCCB) and the Brunel Institute for Cancer Genetics and Pharmacogenomics (BICGP).
