Project description

In conjunction with Logitech, this research developed different case concepts for tablet protection through using a range of different explicit FE models to support the design process. An understanding of the impact mechanics occurring inside device was developed that led to a US patent and a product to market:

  • Kinematic decoupling of tablet and cover
  • Compliance against 1.8m drop onto concrete
  • Design constraints: Mass, materials, manufacture, thickness
