New Route PhD in Advanced Manufacturing and Enterprise Engineering

The Advanced Manufacturing and Enterprise Engineering (AMEE) at Brunel is one of the first integrated innovative engineering disciplines in the United Kingdom. With four MSc programmes and world class research in advanced manufacturing technology, enterprise engineering and engineering management, this is truly a place where cutting edge research brings the frontiers of science and technology to postgraduate and undergraduate students.

With around 150 postgraduate students from all around the world and substantial research income from the EU, EPSRC, TSB  and other research councils, and the industry, AMEE subject area is a major player in the UK and Europe particularly in the field of advanced manufacturing and enterprise engineering.

There are three major laboratories: Advanced Manufacturing Technology Lab, Enterprise engineering and systems Lab and CAD/CAM and FEA Lab, which are well equipped with an excellent range of facilities to support the research work and courses. There are comprehensive computing resources within the School in addition to those offered centrally by the University. The School is particularly fortunate in having extensive gifts of software and hardware to enable it to undertake far-reaching design projects.

This programme aims to educate graduates not only to the high academic standards expected from PhD research but also in generic personal, business and communication skills. Because it extends the usual PhD from three to four years, it develops an integrated range of skills and knowledge that both broaden and deepen the individual's subject expertise beyond the bounds of the usual research degree.
