About the School
The Brunel School of Engineering and Design is one of the largest and most successful Engineering and Design Schools in the UK. Our vision is to be an innovative provider of educational and research programmes that lead to advances in knowledge and skills for sustainable technological development and wealth creation.
Undergraduate study
The School has a strong and enviable reputation for its teaching and the employability of its graduates. This has been gained over many years from our strong and extensive links with industry and the professions which inform the relevance and direction of our academic programmes and research.
Postgraduate study
We offer a broad range of postgraduate taught (MSc) programmes in many areas of engineering and design and in a variety of delivery modes: full-time, part-time and distance-learning, to suit the needs of our students and their career aspirations. We perhaps have the highest postgraduate taught student population of any UK university.
Industrial Work Placement
Sandwich programmes and industrial placements as well as project based learning are at the heart of our undergraduate provision. Close to 50% of our students follow sandwich programmes that involve placements with many national and multinational companies which include: Intel, BMW, Red Bull F1, McLaren, Mercedes, Goldman Sachs, GE Aviation, BAE Systems, amongst many others.
Research
The School is research intensive and has an international reputation for fundamental and applied research in many areas of: electronic and computer engineering; mechanical and aerospace engineering; design; advanced manufacturing engineering and management and civil and built environment engineering.
