Research

The Brunel School of Engineering and Design is one of the largest and most successful School of Engineering and Design in the UK with international reputation for fundamental and applied research in many areas. At present, research carrying out in the Design Subject Area can be grouped into three areas: human-centred design, environmentally sensitive design, and computer aided design. Our extensive links with industry ensure the relevance and inform the direction of our research. The facilities and equipment that support our research are among the finest of any engineering and design school in the country. The diversity of our expertise and brand research grant portfolio enables us to provide challenging research opportunities and experience for our research students and offer consultancy, and research and development services to the industry. Previous and current government funding bodies include EPSRC, MOD, DTI, the Ministry of Defence, etc. Other funding bodies involve the Institute of Advanced Motorists, the EU, the Rees Jeffreys Fund, Shell Ltd, etc.
