Kasia Molga - an artist/designer/animator - who worked in advertising for many years.
About Speaker
Kasia Molga is a visual/media artist, interaction designer and creative technologist who has a passion in exploring innovative and creative ways of merging networked, social media and emergent technologies with engaging and meaningful content. Molga's work straddles between art and design and while exhibiting her own art / design projects worldwide she has worked for commercial creative industries, as well as sharing her professional experience through lecturing. As a designer, Molga is concerned with focusing first and foremost on people: our perception, feelings and behaviors in where interaction is a vital element of human experience. Her work is about providing participatory interactive experience through which she invites spectators to have a playful dialogue with an artwork/design piece. By doing that, she seeks to find innovative and unexpected applications of new emergent technologies in providing emotional connection to the content.
As an artist, Kasia is interested in our relationship with the planet - Buckminster-Fuller’s concept of a “Spaceship Earth”; and changes in our perception: of ourselves and our roles as individual and society in the context of nature, climate, environment and community in this increasingly technologically mediated world.
Her projects deal with the “aesthetics of interconnectedness” through which she questions whether we are conscious and ready to take a full responsibility for our actions knowing that they provoke reaction elsewhere – even very far away…By appropriating new technologies, she not only looks at alternate applications but also implications they have on people in wider context. Specialties: Through her versatile art and design work Molga has gained experience in researching and utilising new technologies and techniques in conveying different type of content. She works with social media, data visualisation, geo-locative technologies, augmented realities, mobile phones, web based techniques (including front end and back end), as well as regular image/graphics manipulation software and film/editing/animation techniques, social media, data visualisation, geo-locative technologies, augmented realities.
Kasia is a funding member of Protei Collective, holds MA in Interdisciplinary Design Studies (Central Saint Martin College of Arts and Design), previously studying Art and Animation (Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan, Poland). She guest lectures, present at conferences and publish papers regularly.
