Dr Nikolaos Boulgouris

SHORT BIO

Nikolaos V. Boulgouris is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering of Brunel University. He joined Brunel in September 2010. Between December 2004 and August 2010 he served as a Lecturer and a Senior Lecturer at King's College. Prior to that, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Boulgouris received the Diploma and the Ph.D. degrees from the Electrical and Computer Engineering department of the University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1997 and 2002, respectively. During his studies, he held teaching and research assistantship positions and participated in several European and national projects. Dr Boulgouris has published more than 70 papers in international journals and conferences (including 13 papers in IEEE journals) and his papers have been cited more than 400 times in papers by other researchers who work in the same area of research.

Dr. Boulgouris is an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing. He served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Signal Processing Letters between 2007 and 2011. He was a co-editor of the book Biometrics: Theory, Methods, and Applications that was published by Wiley - IEEE Press in 2009. He was a guest editor for a special issue on human activity recognition that was published in 2009 on the Eurasip Journal on Image and Video Processing. He was also a guest co-editor for a special issue that was published on the Eurasip Journal on Applied Signal Processing in 2008.

Dr. Boulgouris is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
