Imaging for Space and Terrestrial Applications (ISTA)
The Imaging for Space and Terrestrial Applications, ISTA, group is a new detector research and development group located at Brunel University. The pages of this website will be updated in the coming weeks to provide information about the activities of ISTA.
Charge Coupled Devices
The group is strongly involved with the continued development of CCDs for applications at X-ray and optical wavelengths. One area of research is the continued study of the effects of radiation damage on the operational characteristics of devices.

X-ray Diffraction and Spectroscopy
In collaboration with other groups in Italy and the Netherlands, the group is involved with the development of an instrument that can carry out both X-ray diffraction and X-ray spectroscopy measurements. Initial X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence data using an e2v technologies CCD22 device have been successfully obtained.

X-ray Imaging
The group is actively involved in developing X-ray sensors for applications in a number of fields including the development of next generation X-ray CCDs for XEUS. The two X-ray images shown below are from left to right, a moth and an op-amp respectively.
