Staff and students from Brunel’s School of Engineering and Design made a great impression at the ‘Girls in Science: Engineering the Future’ conference in Bristol.

The event, organised by St Mary’s Calne School and the Girls’ Schools Association and supported by Rolls-Royce and The Consortium, was designed to encourage girls in Year 11 and 12 to consider a career in science and engineering through a programme of high-profile speakers and an exhibition.

The School of Engineering and Design's Marketing and Recruitment Co-Ordinator Tania Cutter represented Brunel, along with Motorsport Engineering students Heather Cray, Chris Muir and Olly Self from this year’s Formula Student Team.

The organisers commented: “One of the highlights of the day was Brunel University’s Formula Student Racing-Car.”

Brunel is committed to the advancement and promotion of the careers of women in science, engineering and technology within higher education and research. The University has signed up to the principles of the Athena Swan Charter, and is now in the process of applying for a nationally recognised Athena Swan Bronze Award.
