Diamond Award for Accommodation Services
The first diamond award ceremony for Commercial Services took place in the Hamilton Centre at Brunel University London in October 2014, with Tracy Strachan (Director of Commercial Services) and Tony Davies (Training and Quality Manager) announcing the winners. There were four awards judged by a panel of the Commercial Services Management Team, with three individuals and one team receiving the prizes. The categories were: 'People', 'Service', 'Results' and 'Team'. All nominees were automatically put forward for a STAR award, so those who did not win on this occasion could still be awarded at the end of the year.
Accommodation Services Team – People/Service/Results Award for a Team
Criteria: a team who encapsulates all the principles of the People, Service and Results criteria.
Barbara Lockhart - Head of Accommodation said: "My team of 10 as well as allocating over 4500 rooms have many other responsibilities to deal with throughout the academic year, and for the past few years has consistently achieved record occupancy targets. I would have nominated each member individually but I feel that it is truly a team effort each working day, and they are a fantastic team."
Training and Development Award
Commercial Services has been shortlisted for the Training and Development Award by West London Business. The awards will be announced on 27 November 2014.
Investors in People
Accommodation Services are proud to say that as part of Commercial Services Directorate we have been awarded the IiP Silver Accreditation in October 2014.
Accommodation Services has held an IiP Accreditation since September 2008. Investors in People is a prestigious national benchmark of good practice, setting the standard for organisations to improve their business performance.
Best Business Meeting Venue
Brunel University London has been awarded 'Best Business Meeting Venue' in the West London Business Awards.
The Awards, currently the only business awards in West London, celebrate business excellence and showcase the innovative and entrepreneurial character of the local area. Entries were encouraged from companies in all sectors.
Brunel has invested £400 million in buildings and infrastructure in the last decade and can now provide conferencing spaces suitable for a variety of events, from international conferences to weddings. Venues include the Antonin Artaud Building, Eastern Gateway Building, Hamilton Centre and Lecture Centre, and the Lancaster Suite offers a 70 bedroom hotel.
UUK Code of Practice
Brunel University London is signed up to the UUK Code of Practice. The Code outlines best practice and provides benchmarks for the management and quality of student housing in the Higher Education sector.
