Heritage Builds Bridges - British & Foreign School

The Archive of the British and Foreign School Society probably holds the most important collection in the world of nineteenth century elementary education and teacher training.

Thousand of letters concerning men and women at the Society's Colleges such as Borough Road, and teachers throughout England and Wales.  Letters of Joseph Lancaster, who began the movement for education of the poor children, important early minute books, and extensive correspondence files on the overseas work of the Society are amongst the treasures.
