The Night Before Christmas

Published: Friday 19 December 2014

With Christmas only a few days away, we thought it would be interesting to have a look at some festive items within our collections.

The archives hold a 1931 edition of The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore, which includes illustrations by the famous English book illustrator, Arthur Rackham. This renowned poem established many Christmas ideas about Saint Nick and his reindeer which are still celebrated today.

The book is part of the Murray Collection, a library of about 500 books devoted to the interests of children. For more information on this collection you may wish to view our second Christmas article or you are welcome to contact us via email.

We hope you enjoy the photo gallery below. And with that, there is nothing else to say but ‘Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!’
