As part of Brunel’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, Brunel University London Archives is delighted to announce the launch online of our archive catalogue, available here.

The new online catalogue contains collection and item level descriptions from the archives of Brunel University London, Shoreditch College, Maria Grey College and the British and Foreign School Society, reflecting Brunel’s complex history. To date there are over 7000 catalogue descriptions, including scans of over 400 Borough Road College photographs. The online cataloguing has focused on making available the most commonly requested series of records (see below).

Brunel University Archives:

Documents relating to: Academic Board, Board of Studies, Senate, Degrees Committees, Ordinances and Regulations, Governing Body, Council, Annual Reports, Strategic Plans, published accounts, Honorary Degrees, publications, photographs.

Maria Grey College Archives:

Fonds (top) level description only.

Shoreditch College Archives:

Whole archive, excluding personal / confidential information, and some personal papers which are currently being catalogued.

BFSS / Society Papers:

BFSS Committee Minute Books, Ladies’ Committee, Annual Reports, Agents’ papers, Foreign Correspondence. Publications including The Philanthropist, the Quarterly Extracts and The Educational Record. Home and Colonial School Society. The Newcastle Commission returns from British Schools. The Salmon Book Collection.

BFSS / Borough Road College:

Applications Men 1817-1857, Applications Women 1817-1832 (further years being catalogued and added regularly). Student registers 1804-1963. Photographs (descriptions and images).

BFSS / Stockwell College:

Stockwell College Kindergarten papers (includes links with Froebel Society)

BFSS / Saffron Walden College:

Saffron Walden Children’s Book Collection.
