Essense
Call to Artists
Professional artists whose work relies on, or explores the use of, their collective senses are invited to submit proposals to take part in an exhibition at the Beldam Gallery, Brunel University, West London, in July/ August 2008. Practitioners who require audiences to utilise senses other than sight to experience their practise, and proposals that particularly explore the use of sound, touch, and smell, will be welcomed. This special exhibition hopes to allow audiences an insight into a broad range of contemporary art practice, through showcasing the work of a diverse selection of artists. Proposals will be accepted from collaborative artists or individuals, and Deaf and disabled artists are particularly encouraged to apply. Submitted works may take the form of video, sound, photography, documentation, digital media, drawing, painting, site specific installation or sculpture.
Artists will work with the university curator throughout the delivery of the project and the installation of the exhibition. There is no exhibition fee, and support will be provided for transportation and installation of all works. A small materials budget will be available for selected artists.
