This is an inspiring painting course designed to suit individual interests and abilities with advice on materials and techniques. The course begins by developing your core drawing & painting skills, exploring shapes and colour values in a still life; creating recession in a landscape; painting a portrait; experimenting with painting techniques and texture and learning about the traditional craft of painting.

Beginners Digital Photography

This 5-week course is for beginners who already own a digital DSLR 35mm camera.

A comprehensive beginners course for SLR camera owners. Learn how to use your camera’s manual settings to get the results you want.  (Topics covered include exposure, composition, lighting, white balance, use of flash and more)

 

Cameras will NOT be provided for this course.

Contemporary Painting

This innovative new class will feature lots of hands on fun projects and experimentation.

Term 1:

Discover the relationships between art and music through a series of workshops designed to inspire and challenge our perceptions of how music and art are connected. Explore the emotions that music ignites and how we can develop it in to art form.

Life Drawing

Using drawing media and pastels, this class covers all aspects of figurative drawing from a life model. 

 

There will be a combination of short 10 minute poses for you to catch, as well as longer studies to hone in your drawing skills over the 10 weeks.

Suitable for all levels of experience.

An opportunity to develop or improve your acting skills using the Meisner* technique.  the first term will focus on instinct and impulse and how to identify them, use them and follow them to make you a better actor.

Suitable for those new to acting as well as those with experience.

Music Theory (20-week course)

Classes start on 28th Sep 2015 - Every week on Monday, until 14th Mar 2016

This course extends over two terms: Monday 28 September – Monday 30 November 2015 (10 weeks) & Monday 11 January – Monday 14 March 2016 (10 weeks).

This course covers all aspects of music theory required to take the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory exam.

The course structure is linear, and so is suitable for those with little or no experience of music theory as well as those who already have some knowledge.

For those who attend every class and complete weekly homework, the exam is realistically passable in March 2016.

The course fee does not include the exam entry fee. Those wishing to be entered for the Spring Term ABRSM exam by the Arts Centre will required to submit their entry fee before the end of the first term.

Please note that the ABRSM is an external examination body, and candidates are entered in accordance with the ABRSM exam conditions and requirements.

The Alexander Technique can help you to move in a more relaxed and comfortable way... the way nature intended. An Alexander Technique teacher can help you to identify and lose the harmful habits you have built up over a lifetime of stress and discover ways to move more freely.
