Who's the seminar for? Early stage research students (0-6 months through PhD)
What's it about? All new research students who are within the first 6 months (or part-time equivalent) of their research, and are invited to attend this one-day event. This induction includes sessions on ‘The practicalities of doing a PhD at Brunel’, ‘Working with your supervisor’, 'Building a professional network' and more. There is also an opportunity during the evening reception for students to meet with their peers from the wider Brunel research community.
Why should I go? Starting a PhD with good working habits, a sound knowledge of what is expected of you, and a strong support network of peers can ensure the successful completion of your research. The event will highlight resources and links which will be of use throughout your degree, and provide you with an opportunity to meet research students from a variety of disciplines across the university.
How does it work? A conference style one-day induction event, with complimentary lunch provided. Sessions include presentations, group work and discussion. Participants are expected to attend the whole day.
