The PhD Movie is coming to Brunel!

Shocked Prof

The Graduate School will be hosting a free screening of The PhD Movie, based on Jorge Cham’s popular comic strip about research student life. Jorge Cham describes the movie in his own words as “a light comedy with a little bit of romance. The plot [or the movie] focuses mainly on two PhD students: a newbie struggling to prove himself to his professor and another who is trying to finish her PhD and is struggling with what will happen next. As in the comic strip, you never quite find out what they are studying and you never learn the new student's name - which is meant to be a kind of metaphor for being the nameless graduate student”.

All Brunel research students and postdoctoral researchers are invited, but, please remember that places are limited, and there are only few tickets remaining. Tickets should be booked in advance online at http://phdmoviebrunel.eventbrite.co.uk/, where further details about The PhD Movie can be found.

The movie will be screened at 7pm on the evening of 19 January 2012. We will be opening the doors at 6:30pm, so if you are coming along then make sure that you are there on time to get the best seat. We will only be able to admit current Brunel research students and staff, so it’s essential that you bring your ticket and ID with you. Otherwise, you will be refused entry to the movie!
