Mobile-friendly resources
General Resources
Using mobile apps and websites for research
A number of resources are now accessible on mobile devices, either via a mobile-friendly website or a dedicated app. You can find different types of content via the tabs above. As a general rule, you will need to be logged in through the University wi-fi network in order to access subscribed content. In some cases, when you have done this, you can then access content off-campus for a short period of time (dependent on the provider). Sometimes you may need to create an individual log-in for certain apps.
This list is by no means exhaustive; publishers are creating new ways to access their content all the time. If you come across or know of any mobile app or resource that we've missed, please e-mail us at e-library@brunel.ac.uk.

Books
In addition to the mobile-friendly collections available below, some e-books available through the Library catalogue may also be viewable on modern mobile devices (see the paragraph on Safari Books below for an example). You can view a list of subject-specific book collections or simply load up an e-book from catalogue or Summon search results as you would normally. Not all e-books will be viewable and not every device will be able to view e-books in this way.
Downloading a free e-book app can facilitate the reading of material, especially when accessing books from the Project Gutenberg collection. Apps such as FBReader for Android and Lexcycle Stanza for Apple are good examples of these.
Safari Books Online offer both a mobile-friendly website and an iPad app, but unfortunately both are restricted to Safari subscribers with an individual Safari username and password. It is possible to connect to the Safari collection through the databases list as you would on a regular computer. It won't be as convenient but e-books are still viewable.
