These resources are recommended for finding financial and economic data and statistics.

Bankscope

Financial data on world banks. Bankscope, FAME and Osiris all have a similar interface, so once you have familiarised yourself with one, you should be able to use the others.

Bloomberg

Bloomberg provides access to a vast array of financial data along with economic and business news. It also provides information on countries, international organisations and prominent individuals. Ten Bloomberg pcs are located in the Financial Resources Suite on Floor 1 of the Library; if you wish to use Bloomberg then you must first book a terminal.

Datastream

Datastream provides access to company, economic and financial data from around the world, over many years. There are two Datastream pcs located in the Financial Resources Suite on Floor 1 of the Library; if you wish to use Datastream then you must first book a terminal.

A collection of online training resources covering Datastream, Eikon and Thomson ONE is available via the Thomson Reuters Knowledge Network.  The available resources include interactive videos, 1-to-1 sessions with trainers and interactive online group training sessions.

 

Eikon (formally Reuters 3000 Xtra)

Provides access to real time (with a 15 minute delay) financial and company data. Includes graphs, quotes and news.

There are two Eikon  pcs located in the Financial Resources Suite on Floor 1 of the Library; if you wish to use Eikon you must first book a terminal.

A collection of online training resources covering Datastream, Eikon and Thomson ONE is available via the Thomson Reuters Knowledge Network.  The available resources include interactive videos, 1-to-1 sessions with trainers and interactive online group training sessions.

 

FAME (Financial Analysis Made Easy)

Company and financial data on medium and large UK and Irish businesses.  Bankscope, FAME and Osiris all have a similar interface, so once you have familiarised yourself with one, you should be able to use the others.

UK Data Service

The UK Data Service is a comprehensive resource funded by the ESRC to support researchers, teachers and policymakers who depend on high-quality social and economic data.

Here you will find a single point of access to a wide range of secondary data including large-scale government surveys, international macrodata, business microdata, qualitative studies and census data from 1971 to 2011.

Osiris

Financial data on international companies, banks and insurance providers. Bankscope, FAME and Osiris all have a similar interface, so once you have familiarised yourself with one, you should be able to use the others.

Thomson ONE (replaces Thomson ONE Banker)

Provides access to global market data and news. Includes company accounts, shareholder information, IPO data and information on Mergers and Acquisitions. Data is provided by leading financial sources including Thomson Financial and Worldscope.

Please note that this resource is only available using Internet Explorer.

A unique username and password is required for access. The Excel add-in is available to download to your personal computer when you have logged in, look under Tools & Tips > Downloads (the add-in is already installed in the Library Training Room). Alternative access to Thomson ONE is available using your Brunel University network username and password, however, please note that this version does not allow you to change your role.
