Raw Data

These resources are recommended for finding financial and economic data and statistics.

Bankscope

Financial data on world banks. Bankscope, FAME and Osiris all have a similar interface, so once you have familiarised yourself with one, you should be able to use the others.

Bloomberg

Bloomberg provides access to a vast array of financial data along with economic and business news. It also provides information on countries, international organisations and prominent individuals. The database is relatively easy to use and if you do get stuck help is available online 24-7 via a unique interactive help chat window.

Datastream

Datastream provides access to company, economic and financial data from around the world, over many years. It is available on two bookable PCs on the ground floor of the Library. No off campus access is available for this database.

Datastream is a complex database and all users will require an introductory training session before using it. If you require access to this database and training has not been arranged through your school, please contact your Subject Librarian (http://www.brunel.ac.uk/services/library/about/sll).

A collection of online training resources covering Datastream, Reuters 3000 Xtra and Thomson ONE is available via the Thomson Reuters Knowledge Network.  The available resources include interactive videos, 1-to-1 sessions with trainers and interactive online group training sessions.

FAME (Financial Analysis Made Easy)

Company and financial data on medium and large UK and Irish businesses.  Bankscope, FAME and Osiris all have a similar interface, so once you have familiarised yourself with one, you should be able to use the others.

ESDS (Economic and Social Data Service)

Four separate resources, Governmental, International, Longitudinal and Qualidata, provide information on key economic and social data, including government surveys and economic time series data. ESDS International offers access to times series data from a range of sources including OECD, World Bank and IMF. You will need to complete a registration form, using your Brunel email address, before logging in. User guides for ESDS are available here.

Osiris

Financial data on international companies, banks and insurance providers. Bankscope, FAME and Osiris all have a similar interface, so once you have familiarised yourself with one, you should be able to use the others.
