Finding resources

How do I find...?

These pages will help you to find the book, journal or information resource you need.

Depending on what you need may depend on how you go about finding it.

Books

catalogue

For a quick book search, go the Catalogue.

There is no need to log in unless you wish to renew your books or place a hold.

To do this, enter your library card number - the lower one on your student card.

In addition to the catalogue we have a large collection of e-resources which can accessed on and off campus.

You can also use the Catalogue for more detailed searches for:

  • DVDs
  • e-books
  • Theses

For advice on how to find books by shelfmark, see our quick guide.

Books and more... Try Summon

If you are trying to find a book or journal article that you already have a reference to, simply search for the title of the book or article.

eg to find the book:

Cottrell, S. (2008) The study skills handbook. 3rd edn. Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan

search for: "study skills handbook"

eg to find the journal article:

Alternatively, if you want to find books or journal articles by keywords, simply enter your keywords into the search box.

Summon search tips:

  • Add more than one keywords by linking them together with and
