Overview
Welcome to the Business and Management subject pages. Use the tabs to navigate to some of the resources we have to support you in your studies. The databases tab contains links to journal, magazine and newspaper databases that are relevant to business and management.
For other types of resource, consult:
- the Market Research page for company, industry, market and country reports and data.
- the Raw data page for company and industry financial information. Fame, Osiris and Bankscope are advised as the first place to look.
- the Audio Visual page for audio and visual material resources specifically related to business.

Books
Print books relevant to Business and Management are mostly located on floor 1 of the Library, in the areas HD and HF. Useful shelfmarks include:

Use the Library catalogue to identify books in these and other areas that may be relevant to you, and to access electronic books.
Highlighted resource
Passport - previously known as GMID: Brunel Library subscribes to this database which contains information published by Euromonitor. Use it to access market research, and company reports. The database includes a large number of reports focusing on many countries throughout the world. You can also access the data used to produce the reports. Login to the Library website and find Passport on the A-Z list of databases or the Market Research page. Passport is a new interface which should improve the searching and browsing experience.
Data rooms
The data rooms, located on the ground floor of the Library, provide access to PCs where you can access Datastream and Eikon, financial databases which can be used for research projects. These PCs may be booked online and the key collected from the Help Desk. You may need training before using these databases. Please contact your Subject Librarian to arrange one to one training.

Individual databases offer a more detailed comprehensive search. Those most relevant to your subject area have been selected below. For guidance on more specific types of information, such as Market Research, Raw Data, Standards and Patents, please see the links on our Research page.
Access to these e-resources is restricted to the students and staff of Brunel University for licensing and technical reasons. Some licence agreements may exclude access to databases and their contents from certain countries. It is your responsibility to comply with the terms and conditions of the relevant licence agreements - for more information see the copyright web page on databases - contact copyright@brunel.ac.uk if you have any questions.
ABI Inform
References, and often full text access, to journal articles in business and management, economics and finance, computers, environment, government and law and social issues and policy on the new ProQuest integrated platform (this has the option to search other databases, too).

Academic Search Complete
Contains full text articles from over 5,000 journals, covering many subjects, including anthropology, politics, political science, psychology, psychiatry, sociology and social work.

Bloomberg
Bloomberg provides access to a vast array of financial data along with economic and business news. It also provides information on countries, international organisations and prominent individuals. The database is relatively easy to use and if you do get stuck help is available online 24-7 via a unique interactive help chat window. This database can be accessed in the Library Bloomberg room via a number of dedicated PCs. Before using Bloomberg you need to book a terminal.
Business Source Premier
Contains full text articles from over 2,300 journals covering all business disciplines. Also provides access to market research reports country reports, industry reports, company profiles and SWOT analyses.

Emerald
Articles from prestigious management journals, full text from 1994. Covers all major management disciplines including marketing and human resource management and also includes engineering topics. (Alternative access is offered via the UK Federation - use the link below and search for Brunel University)

Emerald e-Books
Emerald e-Book series offer a breadth of relevant, quality content featuring high impact, topical research in the areas of, Business, Management, Economics and Social Sciences. These comprehensive collections provide access to more than a 1000 volumes across 130 series titles.

FT.com
FT.com is an essential source of breaking news, comment, data analysis and research tools. The Financial Times, one of the world’s leading business news and information organisations, provides access to news and analysis covering global business, finance, politics and much more. FT content supports a range of disciplines from accounting and international relations to economics and management. First time users: on campus use the Access Manager pop-up to register for access, off campus users should follow this special FT registration link - use your Brunel University email address to create a unique username and password.
Information Science Reference
A collection of around 60 electronic reference books from IGI Global (formally IDEA), including Handbooks of Research and Encyclopedias. Topics covered include information security and ethics, knowledge management, e-business, web technologies, and HCI.
Nexis
Full text access to regional, national and international newspapers, business trade journals, company reports and country reports, including Company Dossier. (This database was previously called LexisNexis Business & News).

Oxford English Dictionary
The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is an etymological dictionary which is widely acknowledged as the most comprehensive record of the English language, tracing the evolution and use of more than 600,000 words through 3 million quotations. OED Online gives access to latest text of the full Oxford English Dictionary, the Historical Thesaurus of the OED and enable users new ways to explore the English language:
Search for new words by year, decade, or any date range. Set language in context: search by place, language type, and date to discover the impact of world events. OED Online is revised and updated at regular intervals and covers British, American, and other varieties of English, and all types of use, from formal to slang.

Regional Business News
Provides full text coverage to regional business news press, predominately covering the United States (New York Times, Washington Post, etc.), but also including some sources from the rest of the world such as the Daily Mail, Evening Standard, Le Monde, and Mail on Sunday.

Sage
Access to over 220 e-journals published in collections by Sage, with up to 59 years of backfiles where available. Access to another 189 e-journals from 1999 onwards for the titles not included in the collections. A multidisciplinary database, with particular emphasis on the social sciences.

ScienceDirect
Offers access to the Elsevier digital library, covering over 1800 publications. Most are available in full text after 1995. The collection is updated daily.

Scopus
Scopus is the largest ever bibliographic database and indexes over 20,000 titles from science, technology, medicine and the social sciences. This abstract only database is updated daily. Use Article Linker (AL - link to full text) to check for full text online sources.

Web of Knowledge
Indexes journals and conference proceedings in the arts and humanities, social science and science and technology, providing abstracts to the majority, from 1970 to date. This abstract only database is updated weekly. Use Article Linker (AL) to check for full text online sources.

Intute
A gateway containing links to good quality websites relevant to business and management, part of a larger site for all subject areas. Intute is no longer being updated, but it is still a valuable resource.
Biz/ed
A British business education website. Includes case studies, activities and business blogs.
Concept Space
The visual search tool for business concepts. London School of Business. Useful for identifying keywords to help you when searching in journal databases.

Definitions of academic terms, with a business slant. A HEFCE funded, JISC/HEA managed resource
An insider's guide to becoming a business academic
A HEFCE funded, JISC/HEA managed resource containing questions, answers and checklists for new business academics.

The database Nexis provides full text access to local, national and international newspapers, both broadsheet and tabloid.

British Library: Management and Business Studies Portal
Many online reports available via the British Library. The reports are produced by universities, professional organisations, government departments and other trustworthy institutions. The material is freely available, but registration is required.
Business Leadership Review
A collection of freely available articles and case studies produced by the Association of MBAs. A new issue is produced quarterly. You can subscribe to this resource via email or view the archive online.

Annual Reports
You may find the annual report for the most recent year on company websites. Look for the Investors or Corporate webpage. If you don't find the annual report on the company website, or you need reports for previous years, consult the following websites:

Online access to annual and interim reports for all UK listed companies. Includes reports for the current year and several previous years.
Annual Reports UK
Annual reports for a number of UK companies. One report for a recent year only.
Annual Reports.com
Annual reports for many USA companies.
SCoRe
A national catalogue of company reports. The purpose of this site is to enable researchers to locate company reports held in in print format in UK libraries and archives.
UK Online Investing - Annual Reports Service
A Service provided by World Investor Link and UK Online Investing.com. The Annual Reports Service provides you with quick access to annual reports and other information on selected companies.
If the annual report that you need is not included in the above resources, please note that annual reports are also available in the database Thomson One Banker. This is a complex database, so you may wish to contact your Subject Liaison Librarian for support.

UK Company Researcher
UK Company Researcher has been designed to provide a free and extensive set of links to sites providing UK company information
SEC Filings & Forms (EDGAR)
The US Securities and Exchange Commission requires all public companies in the US (except foreign companies and companies with less than $10 million in assets and 500 shareholders) to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms electronically through EDGAR. Anyone can access and download this information for free. Here you'll find links to a complete list of filings available through EDGAR and instructions for searching the EDGAR database.
Using Other Libraries
When conducting specialist research, Brunel Library may not always stock everything you need. If this happens, you have a number of options:
