British Standards Online
Provides access to the full text of more than 50,000 British and adopted European and international standards. It is updated daily. Alternative access to BSOL is given below using a unique username and password given on the password page on our intranet. Please do not share these credentials with anyone.

DAAI contains over 130,000 annotated references from more than 500 design and craft journals and newspapers published from 1973 onwards, and data on over 50,000 designers, craftspeople, studios, workshops and firms on the new ProQuest integrated platform (this has the option to search other databases, too).

Access to these e-resources is restricted to the students and staff of Brunel University for licensing and technical reasons. IEEE/IET Electronic Library
Provides access to all IEEE and IET transactions, journals, magazines and conference proceedings published since 1988, plus IEEE standards. The database and journal collection are updated weekly.

Oxford English Dictionary
The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is an etymological dictionary which is widely acknowledged as the most comprehensive record of the English language, tracing the evolution and use of more than 600,000 words through 3 million quotations. OED Online gives access to latest text of the full Oxford English Dictionary, the Historical Thesaurus of the OED and enable users new ways to explore the English language:
Search for new words by year, decade, or any date range.
Set language in context: search by place, language type, and date to discover the impact of world events.
OED Online is revised and updated at regular intervals and covers British, American, and other varieties of English, and all types of use, from formal to slang.
ScienceDirect
Offers access to the Elsevier digital library, covering over 1800 publications. Most are available in full text after 1995. The collection is updated daily.

Scopus
Scopus is the largest ever bibliographic database and indexes over 14,000 titles from science, technology, medicine and the social sciences. This abstract only database is updated daily. Use Article Linker (AL) to check for full text online sources.

AHDS Visual Arts
AHDS Visual Arts is one of five subject centres of the Arts and Humanities Data Service (AHDS). Their website offers photographic archives from many organisations, including Central St Martins, Imperial War Museum, London College of Fashion, and the Surrey Institute of Art and Design. You will need to register.
British Association of Picture libraries and organisations
The site allows you to search for a picture library or orgnaisation by doing a subject search
Design Business Association
This UK trade association's website offers a directory of design consultancies.
Directory of Design Consultants
A UK orientated directory of design consultants, with some world wide coverage. You can search the directory by consultancy name, UK county, country and design skill. Alternatively, you can browse lists of consultants in different design categories.
Fagan Finder
Search engine that searches through image collections on the web
Higher Education Academy - Engineering Subject Centre
Plan
Collection of articles from a variety of sources looking at topics related to product strategy
SCIRUS
Scirus is a science-specific search engine which searches over 167 million science-specific Web pages.
TechXtra
TechXtra is search engine which facilitates access to the freely available full-text content of millions of articles, key websites, theses and dissertations, books, industry news, new job announcements, technical reports, eprints, and the latest research, in engineering, mathematics and computing.

Design Council
This website has lots of graphics and is visually exciting. You can browse the website or perform a keyword search using their search engine. It also offers links to related organisations' websites.

Using Other Libraries
When conducting specialist research, Brunel Library may not always stock everything you need. If this happens, you have a number of options:

Before you visit another library
