Individual databases offer a more detailed comprehensive search. Those most relevant to your subject area have been selected below. For guidance on more specific types of information, such as Market Research, Raw Data, Standards and Patents, please see the links on our Research page.
Access to these e-resources is restricted to the students and staff of Brunel University for licensing and technical reasons. Academic Search Complete
Contains full text articles from over 5,000 journals, covering many subjects, including anthropology, politics, political science, psychology, psychiatry, sociology and social work.

JSTOR
Archive collections of full text electronic journals from 1880 onwards, always from volume 1, issue 1, and including previous and related titles. The most recently published issues (past 3-5 years) are not available in these collections (unless we hold a current subscription too). The Library subscribes only to the Arts & Sciences I to IX, inclusive, and the Health & General Sciences collections, as well as 19th Century British Pamphlets, a collection, created by RLUK (Research Libraries UK) and the Ireland collection (research materials relating to Ireland, spanning the 18th century to present, provided under the JISC Digitisation Programme). Reviews of articles from around 1,700 journals covering mathematics, from 1940 to date. The database is updated daily.
Oxford English Dictionary
The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is an etymological dictionary which is widely acknowledged as the most comprehensive record of the English language, tracing the evolution and use of more than 600,000 words through 3 million quotations. OED Online gives access to latest text of the full Oxford English Dictionary, the Historical Thesaurus of the OED and enable users new ways to explore the English language:
Search for new words by year, decade, or any date range.
Set language in context: search by place, language type, and date to discover the impact of world events.
OED Online is revised and updated at regular intervals and covers British, American, and other varieties of English, and all types of use, from formal to slang.
Project Euclid Prime
Euclid Prime is a growing aggregation of well-cited, peer-reviewed journals in mathematics and statistics, only available to institutions.
ScienceDirect
Offers access to the Elsevier digital library, covering over 1800 publications. Most are available in full text after 1995. The collection is updated daily.

Scopus
Scopus is the largest ever bibliographic database and indexes over 14,000 titles from science, technology, medicine and the social sciences. This abstract only database is updated daily. Use Article Linker (AL) to check for full text online sources.

Springer Link
Full text of most of the journals published by Springer-Verlag and Kluwer. For a short while you may also access the "old SpringerLink" from the new Springer Link via the link under the Brunel logo.

Thomson Reuters Eikon
Thomson Reuters Eikon replaces Reuters 3000 Xtra. It provides access to both real time and historical financial and company data. Includes graphs, quote lists and news. Thomson Reuters Eikon is only available on four computers in the Library - just make a booking through LibCal - Datastream & Eikon bookings and you will be sent details on the location and how to log in. No off campus access is available. You may also wish to book Thomson Reuters Eikon training on demand.
Web of Knowledge
Indexes journals and conference proceedings in the arts and humanities, social science and science and technology, providing abstracts to the majority, from 1970 to date. This abstract only database is updated weekly. Use Article Linker (AL) to check for full text online sources.

Eric Weisstein's World of Maths
MathWorld is a comprehensive and interactive mathematics encyclopedia intended for students, educators, math enthusiasts, and researchers.
Mathletics
A suite of mathematics tests for diagnostic, formative and summative assessment in 175 commonly-taught areas of number, algebra and calculus from GCSE to year 2 undergraduate level. Developed by our very own Martin Greenhow.
Math Centre
The UK Mathematics Learning Support Centre provides free of charge resources including quick reference guides, practice and revision materials, video tutorials, workbooks and online practice exercises on many branches of mathematics.
Math Forum Internet Mathematics Library
A US-based listing of mathematics resources aimed at all levels of teaching and learning.
Study Skills Online
A suite of study skills tutorial and resources, focussing on mathematics as a subject area. Developed by our very own Martin Greenhow.
Newsgroups and mailing lists
Newsgroups are global discussion lists that enable you to read messages and pick up on discussions that are of interest to you and which you might wish to join in. Mailing lists allow e-mail messages to be sent to groups of people.
JISCmail: Mathematics & Statistics
JISCmail is the national academic mailing list service sponsored by the Joint Information Systems Committee, for the UK Higher and Further Education communities, enabling members to stay in touch and share information by e-mail or via the web.

Pre-prints, e-prints and journals
Directory of Mathematics Preprint and e-Print Servers
A collection of links to mathematical pre-print archives compiled by the American Mathematical Society. Archives are divided into three categories: umbrella archives, covering all areas of mathematics, special subject archives and archives administered by mathematics departments and institutes.
Directory of open access journals
Provides a directory of free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. Of the 1612 journals in the directory, 450 are searchable at article level.
Electronic Library of Mathematics
Provides free full text access to around forty scholarly mathematics journals. Some are the electronic version of the printed journal whilst others are only published electronically. Most are refereed. The collection is supervised by the Electronic Publishing Committee of the European Mathematical Society.
Science research portal
A free, publicly available Internet web portal allowing access to numerous scientific journals and public science databases. Covers both comercial and free journal sources. DO NOT PAY for commercial sources - you may already have free access to it from the E-Journals Gateway.

EqWorld: the world of mathematical equations
Presents extensive information on solutions to various classes of ordinary differential, partial differential, integral, functional, and other mathematical equations.
The Learning and Teaching Support Network for Maths Stats and OR (MSOR)
The Maths, Stats & OR Network exists to promote high standards in the learning and teaching of mathematics, statistics and operational research in UK higher education institutions. The Network's Web site includes links to searchable databases of learning and teaching resources, lists of publications and forthcoming workshops.

Pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics.
Math-Net
An International Mathematics Union approved service for organising information systems in mathematics that are available over the Internet. It allows the user to search for publications and pre-prints, as well as offering the opportunity to browse information contained in mathematics departments' homepages.

Search engine for online mathematics resources.
Mathematics WWW Virtual Library
A collection of Mathematics-related resources maintained by the Florida State University Department of Mathematics.
MathML
The LTSN page of links to MathML resources and discussion.
National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics
A government funded initiative to connect with everyone involved in teaching mathematics in England.

The UCI Machine Learning Repository is a collection of over 160 databases, domain theories, and data generators that are used by the machine learning community for the empirical analysis of machine learning algorithms.
