Building links with local businesses
On 19th March 2013, the Placement and Careers Centre (PCC) hosted its first breakfast meeting, welcoming over 40 delegates to campus to network and hear presentations on the topic of ‘Local regeneration and recruitment’.
The invited speaker, Martyn Evans of the Cathedral Group, treated attendees to a pictorial history of the Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes and the Cathedral Group’s plans for development of the site, focussing on the benefits it will bring to the local economy in terms of both facilities and jobs.
Kate Croucher, Joint Acting Director of the PCC was joined by team members to present the variety of ways local businesses can engage with Brunel to build recruitment partnerships that support our students and graduates. Bal Ghoman, Research Support and Development Office and Andrew Ward, Corporate Relations were also present.
Feedback from the event was extremely positive with a variety of opportunities already being advertised as a direct result. This was the first in a planned series of breakfast meetings to improve engagement with local employers and details of upcoming events will be published soon.
