Finding local employment

It can be hard to know where to start jobhunting locally, so here are some relevant web links and some resources available from the Placement and Careers Centre (PCC)

For information on jobs in retail outlets, catering facilities and other companies based at the airport site visit Heathrow Airport 

PCC Job Shop

  • Visit the PCC on campus to find out more about Job Shop vacancies and use our online vacancy board for up-to-date listings of temporary work, part-time work and vacation work
  • You can also see listings of student employment services at other UK higher education institutions at Nases - but check with your local service to see what facilities are open to you

Disability Employment Advisers

  • If you have a disability or a learning difficulty and feel that you might need extra employment support, your local Jobcentre can put you in touch with one of their Disability Employment Advisers
  • A range of services are provided including information about employers in your area who have adopted the 'two ticks' disability symbol.  This symbol identifies employers who are positive about employing disabled people 

Libraries

Brunel University Library

  • Databases available via the Brunel University Library website contain information on companies and industries.  These include market research reports and company profiles in Business Source Premier, GMID and Mintel
  • Print business directories such as Kompass and Kelly's are available in the Quick Reference collection on the ground floor of the Library, near the Help Desk

Public libraries

  • Uxbridge Central Reference Library may hold copies of local business directories together with local Yellow Pages and Thomsons Local Directories. Some may also hold specialist directories like Hollis UK Press and Public Relations Annual
  • Use Tagish for links to UK local authority websites. Most of these sites will give you comprehensive information about their library services

General information about local companies
