Technology Enhanced Learning
Creating and facilitating a Blackboard Learn (Brunel's Virtual Learning Environment) section for a module has become an expected part of an academic staff member's activities. Understanding how to design and develop a virtual learning space is a new challenge, one which the Learning Technology Team supports!
Technology enhanced learning is already happening across the world and in the UK. Academic staff and students have embraced it.
The Learning Technology Team has been spear-heading the technology enhanced learning initiative at Brunel University. Since the university-wide launch of u-Link (the previous VLE) at the beginning of the 2007/8 academic year, we have seen the number of students using technology enhanced learning as an integral part of their courses increase substantially.
Online opportunities must be created where students can access learning resources, develop meaning and share insights with their lecturers and fellow students who, in turn, offer their feedback. Web technologies are emerging that provide features and tools to assist in the learning process of students.
Current staff and students can login to Blackboard Learn here (accessible via the University homepage).
