The Business Objects reporting tool used in Brunel University allows the data held in the SITS database to be queried and reported on in a variety of ways. For example, Business Objects can generate reports at the push of a button to query data from multiple areas of the database and present it as a standard report, such as when paperwork is prepared for examination boards.

Another feature of Business Objects is to allow automated emails to be sent out containing reports generated from the database - for example, an admissions tutor may be sent weekly emails containing information on applications for the coming academic year or statistics can be presented to monitor trends in student performance.

Scheduled emails can be set to send only where the data is of interest; such as an email sent to a course leader to notify them of a student whose comparitvely high marks may qualify the student for a University prize.
