Brunel’s multi-million pound partnership with Sport England helps us to provide world-class sports facilities for the nation’s top athletes, Brunel students and our local community so that they can start, stay and succeed in sport.

Of course it’s not all about facilities, elite sportsmen and sportswomen need access to world-class support services and at Brunel University the EIS will offer elite athletes the best in physiotherapy, massage, medical care and strength and conditioning advice.

PRO -ACTIVE West London is a Partnership of organisations and individuals with a common purpose to co-ordinate the delivery of sport and active recreation across the six West London boroughs of: Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow. There are five PRO-ACTIVE Partnerships that cover the whole of London, Central, East, North, South, and West and a network of these partnerships that make up the County Sports Partnership Network (CSPN) covering the whole of the country. The Partnership is funded by Sport England to support National Governing Bodies of Sport and roll out their Whole Sport Plans in the West London sub-region. In 2010/11, at least 15 sports will be working with the Partnership, with the aim of raising sports participation in their specific sport.

England Basketball’s aim is to encourage and enable people to participate in basketball regardless of their ability, age, gender, or ethnic background. The world-class training facilities on campus at Brunel help us to achieve our goal and promote more basketball play within the community. All players are able to use the high quality Basketball courts and can continue playing at a high standard in the clubs which are linked with the University. The basketball team is backed by dedicated high performance coaches (men and women) who offer support and ensure players are able to reach their potential. For those who enjoy playing basketball recreationally, Brunel is open to any new members to cater for all abilities and commitments to sport. The England Basketball Development officer for the West London region is based at Brunel University and is readily available to support basketball within the University and the community. If you want to get involved in Basketball; playing, coaching or even volunteering, please contact Mandana on either mandana.mehranpour@brunel.ac.uk or 07917 242593.

Since being based at Brunel, England Netball’s London & South East Region has fostered good working relationships with the University and Pro-Active West London. One of the main aims of the Region is to promote the development of netball from grassroots through to elite level and encourage participation amongst all levels, including in schools and colleges.
The Region makes full use of its partnership with Brunel by running UK Coaching Certificate courses, coaching workshops, U16 Regional League matches and one day conferences.
The Regional Excel Programme, run by the Regional Excel Coach, is based at Brunel, where the Region’s most talented players receive intensive and specialised training before hopefully receiving a nomination for England trials.
The Regional Co-ordinator and Middlesex Development Officer are hosted by Brunel and are available to support netball development in the University and wider community. Please contact them on: londonandsoutheast@englandnetball.co.uk or Middlesex@englandnetball.co.uk

Badminton is an Olympic sport with a strong history of growth, achievement and delivery. It is the 6th most participated in sport in this country, and is the most popular of the racket sports. BADMINTON England’s goal is to become the number one badminton playing nation by 2016, and to grow the game of badminton through increased participation, all delivered through a ‘fit for purpose’ organisation. In London, these goals are clearly articulated through BADMINTON England’s Regional Plan 2009 – 2013: Badminton Serving London. Building on existing relationships, seeking out and establishing new partnerships, and ultimately bringing people together that have a common interest, that is at the very heart of the Regional Plan. Brunel University has been one of BADMINTON England’s key partners for a number of years now, supporting us in delivering both our elite and grass roots objectives. Brunel is a hub for the London Regional Team, hosting the North and West London Regional Officer, who is based in the Indoor Athletics Centre. The officer is on hand to guide and support grass roots badminton within the University and the community. Whether it is playing, coaching or volunteering, if you would like to get involved in this great sport then don’t hesitate to get in touch with jennydouch@badmintonengland.co.uk
