Brunel graduate Malcolm Shopland is first star of 2012
The HCS ‘You are a Star’ trophy will be presented to occupational therapist Malcolm Shopland next week, after he received high praise from a county councillor.
Malcolm’s nomination - from County Cllr Barbara Lamb - featured in last months Bouquets. Having seen him in action at a constituent’s home, she wrote to Team Manager Michele Taylor-Rose to sing his praises.
“I had the pleasure to witness his very kind calm and professional work with an elderly couple,” she said.
“One thing I have heard several times, he always follows through his work and makes contact with the clients to ensure they are happy. It’s seldom that I hear such praise and frequently I have to listen to the complaints - that is why I felt it necessary to bring the good news to your notice. I would like to have my grateful thanks and appreciation to Malcolm on behalf of the people noted.
“I appreciate with all the cut backs etc. things are more difficult for everyone, but a pleasant personality kindness and understanding costs nothing.”
Malcolm, who picks up his winner’s certificate and glass trophy from HCS director Sarah Pickup on Monday, told eBriefing: “I’m a little bit pink in the face. It’s very nice. I work in a fantastic team, they’re very supportive, and I thoroughly enjoy my job.”
He has worked for the council for two years and spends much of his spare time at the Buddhist Temple, in Hemel Hempstead, meditating.
Proud Team Manager Michele Taylor-Rose added: “He is a very valued member of the team.”
Malcolm's photo will appear in next month's eBriefing magazine. Click here to be redirected to eBriefing website for the full article.
