Qualifying at The Hospital for Sick Children, Elaine has a background in acute paediatrics before transferring skills into School Nursing. As a School Health Team Leader she has 12 years experience in a disadvantaged area close to Heathrow airport. Working with families, schools, educational welfare, voluntary services, education, police and social services to prevent social exclusion is central to her current practice. Experience as a Specialist Community Practice Teacher fostered a strong sense of developing others and a Team Leader role provides her with extensive leadership skills and managerial knowledge. Elaine was runner up in Hillingdon PCT Staff Awards 2007 for an individual making an outstanding and consistent contribution to the PCT and runner up in Hillingdon PCT Staff Awards 2007 for the best team.

Elaine has also project managed a QNI Award (2002) for Seasons for Growth grief education programme with ongoing nationally accredited training of health and education professionals. Implementation of the support programme assists children and adults to manage grief following significant loss such as death or family breakdown. Elaine previously gained the Tom McCormick Prize, Brunel University for promotion of health education and voluntary work in establishing Seasons for Growth Programme in the UK. Elaine also gained the Herbert Smale Memorial Award on completion of Registered Nurse training for progress and attainment throughout training.

As part of the drive to reduce teenage pregnancy and improve the sexual health of young people, Elaine has led the National PSHE CPD programme for School Nursing in Hillingdon. The programme involves partnership working with a lead for education ensuring delivery of PSHE in schools is effective and sensitive to the young person’s needs.
