Profile

Nessie worked as a community mental health nurse and completed her MSc Mental Health Interventions at Middlesex University. Prior to joining Brunel, her clinical experience includes working in many multi-disciplinary teams,  design, organised a psychosocial interventions programme for service users and carers, have provided mental health training and consultations to health professionals including GPs in the local primary care teams and also the Chinese community. She has researched and published on topics including interdisciplinary and inter-professional learning and teaching, in particular, focuses on the role of community health nurses in mental health promotion and well being for people living with common mental health problems.

  • Engage and involve a service user’s input in learning and teaching, curriculum planning in the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing programme
  • Co-ordinating documentation for NMC monitoring events

Teaching responsibilities

I teach across the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing course, seminar tutor for Occupational Therapy & Physiotherapy students (HH1103), contribute teaching sessions on contemporary mental health problems to social work students on the Community Care programme SW3063 & SW5512.

  • Provide tutoring support for community health nursing students
  • APEL Co-ordinator: I am responsible for interviewing individual nurse candidate who has insufficient credits to gain entry to study our SCPHN programme.

Research

Research interests

My research interests include a broad range of topics on mental health, focuses on mental health promotion and management.

Medication management

Conducted a local audit project examining the quality of care for people presenting with first episode of psychosis to mental health services in the local area

MSc supervisor for community health nursing students, health promotion and public health students.

I am associated member of North London Mental Health Research Hub Network through my interest in mental health.
