Centre for Information and Knowledge Management

Our research is concerned with the derivation and use of knowledge through methods such as intelligent data analysis and software testing. It is motivated by problems in Software Engineering and Bioinformatics. We have two groups: Intelligent Systems, and Software Engineering, Modelling and Simulation.

Our research has had a major impact and so we frequently publish in the top journals and conferences - publishing over 30 papers in ACM and IEEE Transactions since 2008. Our research receives significant support from agencies such as the BBSRC, the EPSRC, and the EU. We also enjoy strong collaborations with bodies such as BT, Daimler, EDS, Ford, IBM, Motorola and Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Intelligent Systems

We conduct research into intelligent systems and their applications. Our research is motivated by real-world problems, and we are also interested in developing the underlying principles.

Software Engineering, Modelling and Simulation

This group, led by Professor Shepperd, pursues research into developing and maintaining information and software systems. The group is particularly interested in software metrics, empirical software engineering, software testing, and simulation and modelling.
