Congratulations to sprinter André Wright, a 21-year-old mathematics student, who won a gold medal at the British Universities Colleges and Sport indoor athletics championships at the EIS Sheffield at the weekend

He won gold and achieved the Championship Best Performance (21.18 sec); he also took the bronze medal for the 60 metres achieved in 6.81 seconds. “It’s the biggest competition I’ve won,” said André. “To break the championship record as well really got me shocked. It’s really cool.”

André used to train at school when he was a child and started taking sport “more seriously when I went to university, training five times per week” with coach Harry King.
